How do I extend my existing passkey to an iOS device?

This article is for users who have already registered a Beyond Identity passkey on their device and want to extend it to an iOS device, such as an iPhone.

By completing this process, you'll create a backup of your passkey, making it possible to restore it if it's ever deleted from the original device.

Steps

1. Download the Beyond Identity Authenticator to your iOS device. You can do this by navigating to the App Store and search for Beyond Identity. You can also navigate to https://app.byndid.com/downloads, then click Download for iOS, which will take you to the Apple App Store.

3. Read the information regarding enabling the Safari Extension and follow these steps:

1. 1. 1. Make sure your default browser app is set to Safari.
      2. In your phone's Settings app, go to Safari and open Extensions.
      3. Turn on the Beyond Identity extension. 
      4. Make sure the extension permission is set to Allow or Always Allow.

When you are finished, tap Skip to next.

4. Next, tap Enroll with Existing Device.

5. On the Add passkey to this device screen, choose Scan a QR Code. 

6. Next, on your device (e.g., MacBook, Mac Desktop, Windows or Linux machine, etc.), open the Beyond Identity Authenticator. Then, click Set up other devices.

NOTE: If you don’t have the Beyond Identity Authenticator installed on your device/desktop computer, you can download it from app.byndid.com/downloads.

7. Next, use your iPhone to scan the QR code on the device to extend the passkey.

8. If extending the passkey from your device to your iOS device (iPhone) is successful, you will see that the passkey is now on the iOS device.

IMPORTANT: Remember not to share your passkey with anyone.
