Supported Fingerprint Readers

Beyond Identity's Windows Desktop Login supports fingerprint readers that are compatible with Windows Hello. Generally onboard fingerprint readers of major Windows PC manufacturers have support for Windows Hello and Beyond Identity, some exceptions are below.

Fingerprint Reader with Known Issues or Limitations

The following fingerprint reader(s) have been found to not be fully compliant with Windows Hello and have limitations with their use in the Beyond Identity WDL software:

• (June 2023) Kensington Verimark Guard is not supported by Windows Biometric API

• VeriMark IT and DT

  • (June 2023) For Windows 11 we recommend using the Windows generic driver

• (June 2023) Dell XPS 17 9700 laptop (built in fingerprint reader: Goodix Fingerprint), will only support a single fingerprint for authentication.

• (June 2023) The following devices support a single fingerprint to be registered only:

  • HP400 Prodesk G5

  • Lenovo ThinkPad 22s

  • TrustKey G310H fingerprint model

Known Limitations / Troubleshooting

• Some fingerprint readers will only support a single fingerprint, please see the manufacturers documentation about this limitation

• Some Windows updates have caused some manufacturers fingerprint readers to clear the fingerprints from Windows system

• When Windows is placed in hibernation some Fingerprint readers will not properly recover from hibernation

  • Work Around: Clink on password or other tile and return focus to the Beyond Identity interface

• Windows supports up to 10 distinct fingers
