Windows Desktop Login Enrollment Update

Prev Next

Overview

In earlier versions of the Beyond Identity Authenticator for Windows, users were prompted to enroll their fingerprints through the app. However, beginning in late July 2025, fingerprint enrollment via the Authenticator will no longer be supported.

Instead, users who wish to use biometric authentication can enroll their fingerprints using Windows Hello, Microsoft's native authentication framework. This change helps streamline the user experience by aligning with Windows’ built-in security features while maintaining strong authentication standards.

What You'll Learn

In this article, you’ll learn how to set up Windows desktop login using a fingerprint through Windows Hello, replacing the previous fingerprint enrollment process in the Beyond Identity Authenticator.

Steps

Note: Enrolling your fingerprint is optional and is not required for Desktop Login. Fingerprint enrollment can also be done after Desktop Login enrollment using Windows Hello.

  1. Log in to your device and open the Beyond Identity Authenticator.

  2. On the dialog window, click Enroll in Desktop Login.
