How Often is the Authenticator Checking for an Update?

This article explains how Beyond Identity Authenticator checks for updates on macOS and Windows and how timing is affected by device activity and user actions.

MacOS

On macOS, we check for updates every hour. Whenever it finds an update and auto-update is enabled, it is scheduled for the next early morning.  However, most computers are offline during the night, so that the update will happen within the first hour of the next day.

Windows

The authenticator checks for new versions on startup, then every hour thereafter unless a user clicks "Remind me Later" or the "X" button in the update Window, which tells it to delay checking for 24 hours.
