CrowdStrike ZTA File (data.zta) is Missing or Empty on MacOS

This article explains how to resolve the issue of missing Zero Trust Assessment (ZTA) scores for macOS by ensuring CrowdStrike Falcon Insight has the ZTA feature enabled and the required data.zta file is correctly installed.

Problem

CrowdStrike has been successfully integrated with Beyond Identity but a Zero Trust Assessment (ZTA) score is not available for macOS.

In order for a ZTA score to be available and used in policies for macOS, CrowdStrike must enable the  Zero Trust Assessment (ZTA) feature for CrowdStrike Falcon Insight and the related ZTA file must be installed in the correct directory.

Solution

  1. Verify that the data.zta file exists and is being populated in the following location on macOS:

    /Library/Application Support/Crowdstrike/ZeroTrustAssessment

  1. If not, contact support@crowdstrike.com and request that the following be enabled:

    • CrowdStrike Falcon Zero Trust Assessment (ZTA) feature be enabled

    • data.zta file is enabled on macOS
